Description of North York Arts:North York Arts is a non-profit, charitable organization created to uplift and expand the arts in North York by investing in artists, inspiring community members, and collaborating with partners and businesses.North York Arts (NYA) is one of six Local Arts Service Organizations (LASOs) in Toronto whose purpose is to deliver on the city’s social, economic and cultural goals outside of the downtown core. NYA was created to specifically address the needs and interests of artists, arts organizations and residents based in the six wards of North York.Please note, the NYA office is located on the second floor of the Meridian Arts Centre and is not wheelchair-accessible and may be challenging for those with mobility limitations.Position Summary:The Program Coordinator position, as described below, is a part-time (20 hours/week) position that will report to the Program Manager, Elizabeth Mudenyo, and will work closely with other NYA staff, partners, program and events persons of interest. The work will require in-person and online interaction with artists, volunteers, the public and NYA team members. Heavy lifting and moving of event equipment will be required.This position is best suited for an enthusiastic team player who thinks creatively, and has experience in programming and project management. The overarching goal of this position is to ensure every NYA program will be delivered successfully and add the highest possible value to North York Arts. - Coordinate online, hybrid and in-person programs and events logistics
- Develop and maintain project schedules and timelines for programs
- Oversee the programming budget and the coordination of materials
- Coordinate accessibility requirements for NYA programs
- Use NYA’s online project management (Asana) and communications (GSuite) tools
- Engage with artists and third-party stakeholders, as needed and directed by supervisors
- Support with enhancing NYA’s programming assets: artist database and art materials storage
- Support NYA’s Comms team for effective program promotion and community engagement
- Support NYA’s Operations Coordinator with coordination of volunteers for NYA programs
- Support NYA’s Operations Coordinator with the planning and execution of volunteer training
Information and Data Collection
- Execute program evaluation and data collection
- Track all program statistics and metrics
- Contribute to KPI reporting
Other NYA activities
- Communicate and coordinate with NYA team on a regular basis
- Identify and implement improvement strategies and best practices
- Other duties, as they arise
The Ideal Candidate Brings the Following to the NYA Team
- Experience coordinating and working with events, arts programming, arts admin (2+ years is desired)
- Demonstrated project management skills including planning, executing, tracking, and reporting
- Keen interest in arts, community and/or non-profit work
- Strong digital knowledge proficiency: GSuite and Project Management software (Asana)
- Strong interpersonal skills; and experience working with diverse range of demographics
- Strong communication skills (oral and written)
- Solution-oriented mindset with attention to detail
- Ability to excel in a team environment
- Demonstrated understanding of anti-oppressive frameworks and accessibility standards
- Knowledge of North York and/or being a local resident
The following will be considered assets
- First Aid Training/Certificate
- Driver’s License (G Class)
- Familiarity with North York
- Familiarity with the arts and culture sector
Additional informationNYA’s office is located at 5040 Yonge Street, 2nd floor (stair access only). Staff work in a hybrid online/in-person model. The successful candidate will be expected to use their own computer and smartphone for work purposes. Evening and weekend work will be required.
