Wage Range: $39.07 – 56.00 (start rate is non-negotiable and in accordance with the collective agreement requirements)
Hours: 24 Hours per Week
Status: Permanent Part-Time
Closing Date: July 18, 2025Position SummaryAs a member of the multi-disciplinary team in the Palliative Care Unit, the Registered Nurse will provide compassionate and comprehensive patient care. The Registered Nurse will provide a palliative approach of care for the patients with cancer at all stages of their disease. The Registered Nurse will take a patient centred approach in preventing and treating symptoms and side effects from the disease and its treatments. The Registered Nurse with collaborate with the team to focus on enhancing the quality of life through meeting the physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual needs of the patients with cancer and provide support to their identified family.Duties
- Assessing patient and their family needs;
- Participating in the development and implementation of comprehensive care planning and goal setting;
- Communicating and collaborating professionally with colleagues within the program to address patient and family needs across the continuum of care in a variety of settings with a multi-disciplinary approach;
- Performing other nursing duties that are consistent with this job classification as required.
Qualifications
- Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing strongly preferred
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) program
- Current certificate of competency from the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current Palliative experience
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Evidence of co-operative and facilitative relationships when working with all interdisciplinary and direct care team members
- Evidence of commitment to team building and working within a patient/family focused, primary care model
- Strong coping, crisis intervention/problem solving skills
- Evidence of strong physical assessment, critical thinking and the ability to predict changes in patient status
- Evidence of effective psycho-social, and patient/family teaching skills
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to utilize the nursing process in planning, implementing and evaluating patient care
- Demonstrated leadership/in charge skills and evidence of good organizational and decision-making skills
- Evidence of commitment to self-directed learning
- Completion of formal Palliative Care courses or a commitment to complete is preferred
