This is a Temporary Part-Time OpportunityContract End Date: March 31, 2028Type: NewVacancies: 1Department: Better WomenSummary of duties, but not limited to:Patient Assessment:

  • Conducts comprehensive mental health assessments with an awareness of and comfort level in assessing patients who present with suicidality, self-harm, or who pose other safety risks
  • Consolidates assessment findings and determines the suitability for appropriate resources
  • Consults with team members and participates in team discussion regarding assessment and treatment, when required

Care Planning:

  • Develops an intervention plan in collaboration with patients, families, significant others and the interdisciplinary team, based on identified needs
  • Documents intervention plan according to specific hospital and professional standards

Interventions:

  • Provides individual, couples and group therapy/treatment using the principles of women’s centered health care and draws upon recognized psychotherapy models including trauma-informed therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, relational group therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, body orientated therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, and crisis management
  • Consults and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members, as required

Team and Program Development and Quality Improvement:

  • Monitors wait list and determine group requirements
  • Participate in the TTP intake process
  • Participates in program development, student education and research as required in a fully affiliated academic setting within the University of Toronto.
  • Participates in personal professional development.
  • Contributes to the development, implementation and continuous improvement of processes and systems required for quality patient care in a mental health setting

Education, Professional Development, and Research:

  • Develop and deliver information, education, and training about trauma to promote knowledge and improve outcomes for clients
  • Provides in-service education internally and to our community partners
  • Supervises nursing and other health disciplines students
  • Participates in professional development as it relates to trauma therapy
  • Participates in research initiatives

  • Current registration in good standing with a regulated professional college (Social Worker, Psychotherapist or Occupational Therapist)
  • Master degree in a mental-health related discipline
  • Three years of clinical mental health experience required, preferably in a hospital setting
  • Knowledge of appropriate community resources related to this patient population
  • Demonstrated experience with a variety of psychotherapies including trauma-informed therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, relational group therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, body orientated therapy mindfulness-based therapy, and crisis management for both individual and group therapy
  • Experience in the treatment of trauma-based mental health issues
  • Skilled in assessing issues related to childhood trauma
  • Ability to facilitate relational groups
  • Ability to and experience in participating in peer supervision
  • Ability to work independently and manage complex and high-acuity mental health patients
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with a hospital-based Electronic Medical Record, preferably EPIC
  • Exceptional written/verbal communication skills
  • Professional behavior and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory college or association, as applicable, and the standards of Women’s College Hospital.
  • This position plays a critical role in acting as an advocate for safety and will demonstrate principles, practices and processes that will optimize a safe environment for all
