Everything we offer is designed to enhance the quality of life and peace-of-mind of our residents, and their family and friends.Shepherd Village is currently accepting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Resident Assistant Lodge (Temporary Part-Time 6 months).What You Will Work OnReporting to the Nurse Manager, and under the direction of the Registered Staff, the Resident Assistant is responsible for assisting the nursing staff in tasks that require both hands-on and no hands-on care of our residents. Duties include but not limited to: transporting residents to programs, dining rooms and appointments within the Home, answering call bells, delivering messages to the nursing staff, maintaining organization in resident’s rooms and providing 1:1 resident support, washing dishes, and housekeeping.What You Can Expect From Us

How You’ll Create Impact
- Transport resident to onsite programming, dining room and internal appointments
- Performs tasks such as: cleaning spills; making beds and changing linens; maintain clean, tidy, safe environment in the Home including the resident’s room; labelling of personal grooming items; putting away personal laundry; cleaning high touch surfaces; wiping up spills and regularly organizing resident closets and drawers.
- Assists with nutrition and feeding, including but not limited to : distributing cloth protectors for meal times; setting up the dining room for meal times and clearing dishes after meals; assisting with feeding the residents through encouragement and coaching.
- Assist resident with hand washing before and after meals.
- Spends time with residents engaging in activities such as reading, card games and puzzles.
- Provides 1:1 resident support.
- Answer call bells and communicate residents’ concerns to staff.
- Collaborates with residents, families and team members to maintain a positive, supportive and safe environment for all.
- Participates in Quality Improvement activities and advocates for the resident/family individual needs and preferences.
What Are Your Skills and Experience
- Mentally and physically able to perform duties as assigned.
- Ability to communicate positively with other staff, residents and families.
- Demonstrates empathy, concern and interest in providing quality care and service to residents.
- Takes initiative and looks for opportunities to make the lives of our residents better.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- No hands-on personal care is permitted.
- Positive attitude and a willingness to assist seniors with excellent customer service.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Must be able to lift, bend, push and pull.
- Proficient in MS office applications.
- Preference will be given to those who have experience working in Healthcare.
