The AGO Collection of more than 120,000 works of art ranges from cutting-edge contemporary art to significant works by Indigenous and Canadian artists and European masterpieces.We are currently seeking a Cleaner (Part-time) to join our Facilities team. Under the direction of the Assistant Manager, Facilities Services, the incumbent will provide housekeeping, event set-up, and general maintenance services. Assists in the clean and orderly maintenance of AGO property.The rate of pay for this position is $22.59 – $28.25 per hour.What is this position responsible for?HousekeepingUsing proper equipment, chemicals, and techniques: washes and waxesfloors; vacuums carpets; cleans furniture and fixtures; collects garbage andrecyclables; cleans windows, doors, walls and other surfaces.
- Using proper equipment, chemicals, and techniques: cleans washrooms including cubicles, mirrors, fixtures, waste receptacles, walls and floors. Replenishes paper products, personal hygiene items and soap.
- Monitors all public areas during open hours to maintain general cleanliness and restock supplies as needed.
- Cleans kitchen appliances in serveries, staff lounge, and the Grange. Launders Grange linens and housekeeping items as needed.
- Tests and evaluates new cleaning products.
Events and MaintenanceSets-up and dismantles furniture and equipment for internal and externalevents in and safe and efficient manner.
- Delivers, installs, dismantles furniture and equipment for events, office moves, and personnel or public use in a safe and efficient manner
- Vacuums, mops, cleans areas before and after furniture is set up or dismantled
Common TasksMaintains building exterior; sweeps walks, collects garbage, clears leavesand snow.
- Identifies irregularities with washroom and other facilities and reports to supervisor.
- Cleans and maintains equipment used for all aspects of the job. Reports irregularities or repair needs to supervisor.
- Delivers items to and from all areas of the building.

- Working knowledge of cleaning procedures, equipment and products.
- Operates lifting aids. May operate scissor lift or other lifting devices.
- Knowledge of safe material handling practices.
- Ability to follow verbal and written directions.
