Hours: 15-22.5 hours per week
Salary: $57.34 – $71.67 (To commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy)
Shifts: Days/Evenings (Monday to Friday)
Status: Temporary Part-Time (12 months)
Closing Date: December 19 2024Position SummaryThe Psychologist will be an integral member of the Bariatric Program and the Allied Health Department. Bariatrics is an interesting and expanding area of practice within the Medical and Surgical health care system. The Bariatric Psychologist’s role is to provide effective diagnosis and treatment, guide clients through the steps towards a full recovery and help them retrace those steps when there are setbacks. If you want to see the difference you make to the well-being and lives of Bariatric clients on a daily basis, while changing the face of healthcare and rehabilitation, Toronto Western Hospital is your next step.The difference you will make:Psychological staff work at Toronto Western Hospital with clients who have a range of mental health, eating disorder and/or substance issues, some with other concurrent conditions. You put together broad-spectrum treatment plans. At Toronto Western Hospital, you have the opportunity to work side-by-side with a variety of allied health team members including, social workers, dietitians, nurses, administrative staff, medical physicians and surgeons.There are difficult cases that challenge you and there are sensitive cases that require a delicate touch. - Completing psycho-diagnostic assessments for the purpose of evaluating the need for service, the nature of the problem, resulting in the formation of recommendations or a treatment plan
- Implementing an intervention plan with patients
- Working as part of multi-disciplinary team to support positive patient outcomes
- Serve as a resource to other allied health team members in the provision of evidence-based psychotherapies including providing consultation, and preparing and delivering clinical presentations/trainings for staff
- Participating in program and intervention development activities such as psychotherapy manual writing
- Leading quality improvement initiatives
Fully autonomous Psychologists, Psychological Associates, Neuropsychologists, and Supervised Practice candidates are all welcome to apply.Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized Ph.D. degree program in Psychology
- Eligible for Certification by the College of Psychologists of Ontario
- Experience working with patients with Eating Disorders an asset
- Experience with CBT for eating disorders, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, PTSD or OCD a strong asset
- Experience with motivational enhancement therapy an asset
- Experience working in a hospital environment an asset
- Student education/supervision experience an asset
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team
