The Impact You’ll Make

Loblaw Advance UX supports our in-house Ad Tech tooling (retail media platform, demand side platform, audience tools) as well as discovering, creating and monitoring Display Ads and Sponsored Products across our digital properties. As a Product Designer on Loblaw Advance, you will work closely with a cross functional team on specific areas of LOOP, our new objective-based omnichannel advertising platform. You’ll work alongside 3 other Designers, reporting into the Design Lead, working collaboratively and contributing to the overall success of the business.

  • 2+ years of experience working as a designer on cross-functional teams releasing consumer experiences or enterprise products

  • Beautiful, accessible, scalable digital experiences
  • High complexity data visualizations, dashboards or similar
  • Your experience working in a cross-functional team in an agile environment working closely with Product, Tech and Design peers.
  • Your ability to use design as a tool to uncover what questions to ask, what solutions to explore, and how to define and measure success.
  • How you have contributed to the design practice and/or team culture at an organization.

To Succeed as a Product Designer at Loblaw Advance, you should:

  • Collaborate Seamlessly With Other Designers: We are all building tools that ladder or nest into one another. Being able to take design cues from others’ patterns and explorations is critical. 
  • Design Data-Heavy Screens: You can take a page of tables and metrics and make it into an easy-to-scan dashboard that tells the story of a products performanceYou can balance UX and UI to make it beautiful.

What you’ll do

  • Problem Discovery, Definition & Goal Setting: You’ll collaborate with your team to ensure that problems, initiatives, and outcomes are well-defined and documented based on objective data. You’ll help facilitate discovery sessions and workshops that align your team around clearly defined problem statements and goals. 
  • Interaction Design: You know when and why to apply interaction design processes to achieve the right outcomes with your team. Your focus will be in the interplay between words, visuals, space, time, and behaviours of digital user interfaces. Your work product will include journey maps, service blueprints, information architecture, user flows, and wireframes. 
  • Art Direction & Visual Design: You’ll design the high-fidelity interfaces that we build. You understand how to convey visual personality, tone, look and feel, and the flourish that is appropriate to your product. 
  • Design Systems Thinking: You’ll ensure that design solutions utilize and further the team’s design system, and leverage or iterate on existing patterns whenever possible. You’llidentify undefined or inconsistent patterns and propose scalable solutions. You’ll encourage and facilitate the shared naming of elements across design and development on the team. 
  • Design Research, Validation & Iteration: You’ll contribute to and lead user and market research activities, and synthesize their results. You’llleverage a range of mixed methods tools from generative to evaluative, experimentation, and in-market performance to improve your work. You’ll track the performance of your work post-launch and continue to optimize based on data. 
  • Inclusive Design: You’ll help ensure that our digital products can be experienced by everyone, reflecting the diversity of the communities we serve. You have an applied understanding of AODA design requirements and can apply knowledge of inclusive design ‘grey areas’ that may not be legal requirements, but improve our digital products for everyone.
